About the Designer, By M.Wellington

Houstina Summers, designer of Cowgirl Heaven, and the founder of the Silver Hearts Foundation triumphs through all odds to create a timeless form of art through fashion. She faced many adversities within her personal life like homelessness, depression, and the lost of her father to cancer. All of this heartache occurred in one year, but has not slowed this passionate college graduate down. Summer’s success has sky-rocketed since she launched her career in the fashion industry late in the year of 2007.Houstina has been featured during Los Angeles fashion week, and considered to be the next Alexander Mcqueen or Betsy's Johnson's protégé. She is not only making fashion history, but she is single handedly changing the face of fashion. She is part of a rare breath of designers who dare to create outside of the latest trends, and red carpet couture.
She has intricately created a line that has, in itself, become a timeless fashion trend. "How can something so beautiful come from such a sad and ugly beginning?" "Well, its like gold. Gold has to go through the fire so that you are able to enjoy it in its purest form," says the designer during an exclusive cable TV interview in early 2008. Sister of former Capitol recording artist Houston, Houstina is no stranger to the spotlight. She was Houston's personal stylists, which helped create a name for her among some of Hollywood's most elite celebrities. Her line of revolutionary dresses has a strong 1950's Hollywood aura. Detailed with vintage beads and semi precious stones, her whimsical pieces are draped with velvets, and layered lace petty skirts. Her pieces can, and will, fulfill every woman’s dream of being a princess.

Houstina will be debuting her highly demanded Spring 2009 collection on January 17th. This release will take place during a two day fashion soiree at the Celebrity Center in Hollywood, California. For more information about the show please contact: Fashion Show Promoter: JS www.modeledfashions.com
Location: Celebrity Center Hollywood
Time: 8pm

"I'm a survivor," says the designer. "I've been through a lot. It has made me stronger spiritually, emotionally, and more rich in compassion," she continues. Through her love of fashion, Houstina has created a foundation called, Silver Hearts. Silver Hearts is an avenue where independent designers of all walks of life can give back by donating a percentage of their sales to various charities. Some of the areas are homelessness, animal rescue, cancer research, and many others.

A big part of her donations will come from her adorable new book entitle, "Revival: Bringing Dead Clothes to life." Revival is a unique DIY guide on up-cycle clothing. From the sales of her book and the profit of her gorgeous dresses, Houstina hopes to eventually create a program called "Operation Skid Roe." She plans on helping and developing a program that will help everyone who unfortunately ends up there.
